We just received the nicest thank you note in the mail today. What a lovely surprise! It was from Charlie, the lovable rescued Golden Retriever from up north. We’re lucky enough to call him a customer for a few months out of the year while his parents stay in warm & sunny Florida…..we wish we could keep him year round! :)

Princesses, pirates, lions and bananas oh my! Wow, what a fabulous day we had at Howl-o-Ween 2009. The weather was perfect for this fun event. First dogs went trick-or-treating for healthy snacks through the merchants at Uptown Station. Then they gathered for the grand opening of Central Park, Ft Walton Beach’s new off-leash dog park located in the new section of Uptown Station. (Good news for the local pups…the park will be getting bigger and better! )
Eglin Pet Welfare and RUFF Rescue were in attendance, with some wonderful dogs and cats. Eglin Pet Welfare had 3 adoptions (Arrroooo! Or should we say Meow?), which we are thrilled about. Jennifer Wray with All Pets Sitting Service also had a booth, along with us here at 3 Dogs & a Chick!
After all the dogs played and learned how to use the agility equipment, the costume contest began. We saw everything from turtles to bananas to lions to princesses. Everyone was so creative and the dogs really did seem to enjoy showing off their costumes (for the most part!). It was a blast!

Hey everyone…it’s time to pull together and help out a wonderful local rescue group who is in dire need of OUR HELP! UnderDogs is an all volunteer group of people who rescue and foster needy dogs mostly from death row at our local dog pounds. They run entirely off of personal funds and do not receive grant money or many donations. They are FULL of dogs and need many things, including all-important foster homes and hands-on help doing cleaning, laundry, bathing dogs, walking dogs, playing & socializing dogs, etc. UnderDogs also has a wish list of items they are in need of:
Do you have some spare time and good organizational skills? If so, UnderDogs could use YOU! They need help with paperwork and organizing adoptions, medical records, etc.
UnderDogs also has enormous vet bills, due to the poor health of many of the dogs they take in. They are fabulous with nursing them back to health and turning these sweet pups into wonderful, adoptable family dogs! We had lots of cute & friendly visitors in the shop today, even after the horrible rain started! Take a look at who was seen at 3 Dogs & a Chick…
Manny & Salty came by to pick up their complimentary gourmet treats and do some birthday shopping! They ordered a birthday cake, picked out a new toy, ate some doggie ice cream and sniffed all around the shop. They are so sweet!
Azar, the little cute puffball, came in to grab an Orijen trial bag for his doggie friend. Hope they liked this awesome food!
Odie came to pick up some Zukes Organic Bake treats, along with a bag of our freshly baked treats. He also showed off some great tricks like sit, speak, shake and down. What a good boy!
Tyson is a growing pitbull! (This is what he looked like 6 months ago) He was in to pick up some Grizzly Salmon Oil to keep his coat soft, shiny and healthy. As always, he was super friendly and willing to give lots of kisses :)
And finally we were visited by the lovely Rummy! She picked out a carob & peanut butter bat cookie, Nutty Monkey ice cream, Taste of the Wild dog food and some ArthriSoothe Gold for those achy joints. Rummy loves, loves, loves her ice cream! It was raining in the courtyard but she didn’t care one bit as she tucked into that ice cream.
The cooler weather has finally arrived to the Emerald Coast and we are loving it! We have lots of yummy new treats in the bakery, all freshly made this week. They are the perfect way to kick off the fall & Halloween season! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s available:

Meet Red Beard, puppy extraordinaire. What a sweetheart this 15 week old pitbull is! He had the entire store wrapped around his paw when he visited 3 Dogs and a Chick today. He picked out Crabby squeaky toy, a stuffed bone and some home-baked treats. He also loves his Orijen puppy food!
Due to the rain today, Dog Daze has been rescheduled. The new date is Saturday, October 17th.
